Tenshin Okakura, a founder of Nihon Bijutsu-in (the Art Institute of Japan),
built his residence and Rokkakudo (Hexagonal Hall) at Izura in 1905 and the next year,
called his pupils – Taikan Yokoyama, Kanzan Shimomura, Shunso Hishida, Buzan Kimura to join him in Izura.
They moved in and started creative activities.

looking at the shining ocean by the sunrise or the floating fishing lights from the boats in the sunset glow. Please enjoy the scenery of Izura which the predecessors of Japanese modern art loved from the open-air bath. Our bath has a good reputation as an open-air bath with an ocean view. The quality of the hot spring is good for neuralgia, recovering from fatigue and promoting health.
