Tenshin Okakura, a founder of Nihon Bijutsu-in (the Art Institute of Japan),
built his residence and Rokkakudo (Hexagonal Hall) at Izura in 1905 and the next year,
called his pupils – Taikan Yokoyama, Kanzan Shimomura, Shunso Hishida, Buzan Kimura to join him in Izura.
They moved in and started creative activities.

To Izura from the sea and the mountains, the season’s delicacies are brought every morning. We entertain our guests with fresh ingredients adding local tastes. Angler-fish hotpots, Izura’s specialty, decorates your banquet table splendidly, especially during Winter.
